Philip Lawrence moved, — Given Air Canada's plan to restrict carry-on bags for customers purchasing its lowest-priced “basic economy” fares starting Friday, January 3, 2025, impacting the affordability of air travel for Canadians, the committee invites the Chief Executive Officer of Air Canada, and the Minister of Transport to address this matter within eight days.
Debate arose thereon.
Vance Badawey moved, — That the motion be amended by adding after the words “the Minister of Transport” the following: “WestJet, Porter Airlines and Air Transat Chief Executive Officers”.

Taylor Bachrach moved, — That the amendment be amended by adding after the words “Air Transat Chief Executive Officers” the following: “and passenger rights defenders”.
After debate, the question was put on the subamendment of Taylor Bachrach and it was agreed to.
After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Vance Badawey, as amended, and it was agreed to.

Given Air Canada's plan to restrict carry-on bags for customers purchasing its lowest-priced “basic economy” fares starting Friday, January 3, 2025, impacting the affordability of air travel for Canadians, the committee invites the Chief Executive Officer of Air Canada, the Minister of Transport, WestJet, Porter Airlines and Air Transat Chief Executive Officers, and passenger rights defenders, to address this matter within eight days.
Questioning of the witnesses resumed.
