Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of the report of the Bank of Canada on monetary policy.

Tiff Macklem made a statement and, with Carolyn Rogers, answered questions.

Jasraj Singh Hallan gave notice of the following motion:

That the committee report to the House it’s censure of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance for ignoring the committee’s requests for her to appear on the cost-of-living crisis.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

RULING BY THE CHAIR

The chair ruled that Jasraj Singh Hallan’s time of questioning was over.

Whereupon, Philip Lawrence appealed the decision of the Chair.

The question: "Shall the decision of the Chair be sustained?" was put and the decision was sustained on the following recorded division:

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, September 21, 2023, the committee resumed its study of policy decisions and market forces that have led to increases in the cost of buying or renting a home in Canada.

The witnesses answered questions.

At 6:05 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
