Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, September 21, 2023, the committee resumed its study of policy decisions and market forces that have led to increases in the cost of buying or renting a home in Canada.

Peter Routledge made a statement and answered questions.

On motion of Gabriel Ste-Marie, it was agreed, — That the written response document received by the Bank of Canada and distributed by the clerk on Friday, June 7, 2024, be made public.

Questioning of the witness resumed.

At 12:01 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 12:09 p.m., the meeting resumed.

Robert Kavcic, Robert Hogue, Rebekah Young and Rishi Sondhi made statements and answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Motion

Dave Epp moved, — That the committee order a fully unredacted copy of the government’s economic analysis on the impact of the federal fuel charge and the output-based pricing system, referenced as information request IR0776 in the Department of Environment and Climate Change Canada’s letter to the Parliamentary Officer dated May 14, 2024, and given that this information is already produced, the committee order this file within 24 hours of this motion being adopted and report this finding to the House.

Debate arose thereon.
