Minutes of Proceedings
It was agreed, — That, as it relates to the committee’s future business:
- The committee consider the motion tabled by Mr. Hallan on Thursday, March 9th, 2023, relating to mortgage amortization periods adopted and that the testimony heard on Thursday, March 23rd, 2023 as part of the committee’s study of inflation be considered as of the evidence of for the purposes of this study;
- During the week of June 12th, 2023, the committee meet once to hear from witnesses on its study of mortgage amortization and once to hear from witnesses on its study of green finance;
- The committee meet once in-camera the week of June 19th, 2023;
- As it relates to the committee’s pre-budget consultations:
i. The committee commence its pre-budget consultations for the 2024 budget no later than Wednesday, September 20th, 2023 and that, pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the committee agree to table a report, to the best of its efforts, by Tuesday December 12th, 2023;
ii. Members submit their prioritized, provisional, lists of witnesses to the clerk, for the meetings in Ottawa and in each of the Canadian cities the committee plans to visit by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023; and
iii. The clerk and chair be empowered to publish a news release to launch the pre-budget consultations process and request submissions on Friday, June 16th, 2023, with a provisional deadline for the submission of briefs of Friday August 4th, 2023; and
- That a letter be sent out by the Chair to chairs of other standing committees no later than Friday, June 23rd, 2023, seeking the interest of other committees in undertaking hearings of their own for the purposes of pre-budget consultations and a possible subject matter study of legislation accompanying a Fall Economic Statement, that the request be made that committees prioritize those recommendations that would be low-cost or increase productivity, and that committee chairs be asked to respond by no later than Tuesday, October 31st 2023.
