Pursuant to the order of reference of Wednesday, June 5, 2024, the committee resumed consideration of Bill C-61, An Act respecting water, source water, drinking water, wastewater and related infrastructure on First Nation lands.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

Motion

Eric Melillo moved, — That the committee resume consideration of the motion moved by Jamie Schmale on Monday, June 17, 2024, which read as follows:

That, given the large workload and expansive mandate of this committee, the committee hold five meetings for a duration of 2 hours each between July 8 and September 13, to address housing on First Nations and produce a report with policy proposals to build more homes and solve chronic housing challenges on First Nations communities.

The question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Sébastien Lemire, Eric Melillo, Martin Shields, Bob Zimmer — 4;

NAYS: Jenica Atwin, Jaime Battiste, Ben Carr, Lori Idlout, Michael V. McLeod, Francis Scarpaleggia — 6.

At 6:41 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
