Minutes of Proceedings
ORDERED, — That the clerk of the committee, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a draft budget respecting the committee's proposed travel to Ecuador, in relation to its study of Free Trade Negotiations Between Canada and Ecuador, for consideration by the committee.
It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee undertake a study of the Canada Border Services Agency's (CBSA) Obsolete and Surplus Goods Program, which allows Canadian companies to destroy imported goods and obtain a refund of customs duties paid on their importation, in order to assess the total value of goods destroyed, identify the industries and goods most affected by this program, and propose more responsible alternatives; that the committee hold at least two meetings on this study; and that the committee report its findings and recommendations to the House.
At 4:24 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 4:34 p.m., the sitting resumed.
The witnesses made statements and answered questions.
At 5:33 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
