The committee resumed consideration of matters related to committee business.

At 11:48 a.m., the sitting resumed.
It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee invite Ms. Isabelle Hudon, President of the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) and the Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development to appear before the committee to explain the BDC's strategic review and objectives for the next 10 years and the role that the consulting firm McKinsey & Company played in the development of the BDC's Strategic Plan; that these witnesses appear before the committee for one hour each; and that this study commence after the study on mining firms and that it be followed by the study on non-tariff barriers.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee undertake an immediate review of the lengthy delay of eight years between the expiration of the last Softwood Lumber Agreement between Canada and the United States and reasons why this delay has continued to hold up progress on a bilateral deal, and the impact of the U.S. preliminary duty rates on Canadian Softwood Lumber by the United States Department of Commerce; that the committee invite the Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development and other Government officials and experts the committee deems relevant; that the committee hold a minimum of two meetings; that the committee report its findings and recommendations to the House; and that this study commence immediately after the study on non-tariff barriers.
The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.
