Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, November 25, 2022, the committee resumed its study of non-tariff barriers in Canada’s existing and potential international trade agreements.

Dave Carey, Jack Chaffe, Joe Dal Ferro and Stewart Beck made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 4:59 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:05 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

Committee Business
The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of trade opportunities for Canadian businesses in the Indo-Pacific, the proposed budget in the amount of $269,338.52 for the committee’s travel to Singapore and New Delhi in September 2023 be adopted; and that the Clerk be authorized to purchase appropriate gifts and make the necessary arrangements for meals and a reception during the committee's travel.

Potential Trade Impacts of the United States Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 on Certain Firms and Workers in Canada
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, the committee resumed its study of potential trade impacts of the United States Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 on certain firms and workers in Canada.

The committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "The United States' Inflation Reduction Act of 2022: Trade Impacts on Certain Canadian Sectors".

It was agreed, — That the Chair, clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That dissenting or supplementary opinions be in Calibri 12-point font, left aligned, single-spaced, and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the clerk of the committee, not later than 4:00 p.m. on May 8, 2023.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

At 5:13 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
