The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.
The committee commenced consideration of a draft report.
It was agreed, — That the draft report be adopted.
It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Transporting Goods in Rail Containers: Some Trade Implications for Canada".
It was agreed, — That the Chair, clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.
It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.
It was agreed, — That dissenting or supplementary opinions be in Calibri 12-point font, left aligned, single-spaced, and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the clerk of the committee, not later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2023.
ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.
It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $17,425.00, for the study of environmental and human rights considerations regarding Canadian mining firms abroad, be adopted.
It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee undertake a study to review the benefits to Canadian businesses via trade engagement with the Pacific Alliance and the four bilateral trade agreements that Canada has with Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru; that the committee hold a minimum of four meetings for this purpose; and that the committee report its findings and recommendations to the House.
It was agreed, — That the committee proceed to sit in public.

At 4:21 p.m., the sitting resumed in public.
Kyle Seeback moved, — That the committee report to the House that it calls on the Government to immediately take any and all actions necessary to prohibit the importation of any goods made wholly or in part with forced labour from the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) and develop a strategy to prevent the importation into Canada of any goods mined, produced, or manufactured wholly or in part with forced labour in the People’s Republic of China.
Debate arose thereon.

The committee resumed consideration of the motion of Kyle Seeback, — That the committee report to the House that it calls on the Government to immediately take any and all actions necessary to prohibit the importation of any goods made wholly or in part with forced labour from the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) and develop a strategy to prevent the importation into Canada of any goods mined, produced, or manufactured wholly or in part with forced labour in the People’s Republic of China.
On motion of Chandra Arya, it was agreed, — That the motion be amended by deleting the words “from the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR)” and by continuing with the following: “and develop a strategy to prevent the importation into Canada of any goods mined, produced, or manufactured wholly or in part with forced labour.".
It was agreed, — That the motion, as amended, be adopted.
The motion, as amended, read as follows:
That the committee report to the House that it calls on the government to immediately take any and all actions necessary to prohibit the importation of any goods made wholly or in part with forced labour and develop a strategy to prevent the importation into Canada of any goods mined, produced, or manufactured wholly or in part with forced labour.
