Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, the committee commenced its study of the opioid epidemic and toxic drug crisis in Canada.

Jennifer Saxe made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

Motion

Brendan Hanley moved, — That, as part of its study of the opioid epidemic and toxic drug crisis in Canada, the committee invite the Minister of Mental Health and Addictions and Associate Minister of Health for one hour, and that the meeting take place no later than Monday, February 19, 2024.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

Stephen Ellis moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “Monday, February 19, 2024” with the words “Monday, January 15, 2024”.

It was agreed, — That, for the study of the opioid epidemic and toxic drug crisis in Canada, members of the committee submit their complete witness lists to the clerk not later than 4 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023.
