Pursuant to the order of reference of Wednesday, May 29, 2024, the committee resumed consideration of Bill C-368, An Act to amend the Food and Drugs Act (natural health products).

The committee commenced its clause-by-clause study of the Bill.

Stephen Ellis moved, — That the committee resumed consideration of the motion of Stephen Ellis moved on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, which read as follows:

That the Institute for Safe Medication Practices Canada provide the list of 700 incident adverse reactions, the date of incident, product and outcome to the standing committee on Health within 30 days.

The question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Blaine Calkins, Stephen Ellis, Laila Goodridge, Shuvaloy Majumdar — 4;

NAYS: Brendan Hanley, Peter Julian, Arielle Kayabaga, Yasir Naqvi, Marcus Powlowski, Sonia Sidhu, Luc Thériault — 7.

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That the Institute for Safe Medication Practices Canada provide the list of 700 incident adverse reactions, the date of incident, product and outcome to the standing committee on Health within two weeks.

The Chair called Clause 1.

On Clause 1,

Peter Julian moved, — That Bill C-368, in Clause 1, be amended by replacing line 8 on page 1 with the following:

“combination of drugs and devices, but, for the purposes of sections 21.31, 21.32, 21.33, 21.7 and 21.71, does not include a”

Debate arose thereon.

At 5:53 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
