Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, March 20, 2023, the committee resumed its study of tech giants’ current and ongoing use of intimidation and subversion tactics to evade regulation in Canada and across the world.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: “Tech Giants' Intimidation and Subversion Tactics to Evade Regulation in Canada and Globally”.

It was agreed, — That the Chair, clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That dissenting or supplementary opinions be in Calibri 12-point font, left aligned, single-spaced, and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the clerk of the committee, not later than 4:00 p.m. (ET) on Friday, October 25, 2024.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

ORDERED, — That the clerk and analysts of the committee, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a news release for publication on the committee’s website and for distribution upon presentation of the report to the House.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, February 14, 2022, the committee resumed its study of harms caused to children, women, and men by the ease of access to, and online viewing of, illegal sexually explicit material.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: “Harms caused by illegal sexually explicit material online”.

It was agreed, — That the Chair, clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

At 5:23 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 5:27 p.m., the meeting resumed.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $2,250, for the study of the mandate of the Minister of Canadian Heritage, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the access to information request received by CBC/Radio-Canada and communicated to the committee on Thursday, October 10, 2024, the committee instruct the clerk to authorize disclosure of said document with the understanding that it remains protected by parliamentary privilege.

It was agreed, — That the committee prioritize the study of the protection of freedom of expression, as adopted on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, as its next study.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of protection of freedom of expression, committee members submit their preliminary prioritized witness lists, with the witnesses’ complete contact information, to the clerk of the committee no later than 4:00 p.m. (ET) on Friday, October 25, 2024.

At 5:39 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
