The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $ 3,625, for the study of challenges related to the recovery of the arts, culture, heritage, and sport sectors, which have been deeply impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $ 700, for a briefing with the Minister of Canadian Heritage on his mandate letter, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $ 1,025, for the study of the impact on local news of Rogers Communications Inc.'s takeover of Shaw Communications, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $ 3,400, for the study of the Status of the Artist Act and its impact on improving basic working conditions for artists, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That a list of witnesses be submitted by committee members to the clerk of the committee for the study of the Status of the Artist Act and its impact on improving basic working conditions for artists, by 12:00 p.m. EST, on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.

It was agreed, — That a list of witnesses be submitted by committee members to the clerk of the committee for the study of the impact on local news of Rogers Communications Inc.'s takeover of Shaw Communications, by 12:00 p.m. EST, on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.

At 3:40 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:52 p.m., the sitting resumed in public.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, January 31, 2022, the committee resumed its study of challenges related to the recovery of the arts, culture, heritage, and sport sectors, which have been deeply impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eleanor Noble, Kelly-Ann Paul, Heather George, Annick Charette, Terry Huisman, Sarah J. E. Iley and Jacoba Knaapen made statements and, with Lisa Blanchette and Michael Wallace, answered questions.

At 5:29 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
