Evan Jamison, Kevin Desjardins, Cal Millar, Greg O'Brien, Brian Myles, Colin McKay, and Ben Scott made statements and, with Dennis Merrell, answered questions.
Marilyn Gladu moved, — That the committee have a minimum of three additional meetings to hear from witnesses on Bill C-18, An Act respecting online communications platforms that make news content available to persons in Canada, with one of those meetings being with the Minister of Canadian Heritage; and that the committee does not move to clause-by-clause until the completion of these three meetings.
Debate arose thereon.
Chris Bittle moved, — That the debate be now adjourned.

Rachael Thomas moved, — That the committee meeting remain in public for the Committee Business portion of the meeting.

It was agreed, — That Ian Scott, Chair of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, and the Minister of Canadian Heritage, be invited to appear before the committee for one hour each, on Friday, October 21, 2022, on the consideration of Bill C-18, An Act respecting online communications platforms that make news content available to persons in Canada.
At 1:41 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
