Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, the committee commenced its study of the activities of Google in reaction to Bill C-18.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

On motion of Lisa Hepfner, it was agreed, — That the evidence to be given by Sabrina Geremia and Jason J. Kee in relation to the study of activities of Google in reaction to Bill C-18 be taken under oath or by solemn affirmation.

Sabrina Geremia and Jason J. Kee, having made solemn affirmations, answered questions.

Motion

Gérard Deltell moved, — That, given that:

(a) the Senate made substantial amendments to Bill C-11, the Online Streaming Act and has returned the Bill to the House; and

(b) the Government will be preparing their response to those amendments imminently;

the committee immediately undertake a study of the subject matter of the Senate amendments to Bill C-11 and report their recommendations to the House.

Debate arose thereon.

The question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division:
