Minutes of Proceedings
Amy Gottschling, Caroline Ducros and André Bernier made statements and, with Brian Torrie and Daniel Brady, answered questions.
At 7:30 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 7:35 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.
It was agreed, — That the deadline for the submission of briefs in relation to the study of small modular nuclear reactors be extended by ten days past the last scheduled appearance of witnesses.
The committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a draft report.
It was agreed, — That the committee (i) study international “moonshot programs” that aim to resolve difficult environmental and social problems, set ambitious research and development programs, and attract researchers from around the world, and (ii) make recommendations regarding what such a program could look like here in Canada, for a total of eight hours.
It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(i), the committee undertake a study on the role and value of citizen scientists and develop recommendations on how to encourage and expand the roles played by citizen scientists and that eight hours be allocated to hearing from witnesses.
At 8:14 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
