Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(i) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, the committee resumed its study of science and research in Canada's Arctic in relation to climate change.

Kirk Anderson, Bing Chen, Isla Myers-Smith and Joël Bêty made statements and answered questions.

At 12:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:12 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to its study of science and research in Canada’s Arctic in relation to climate change, the proposed budget in the amount of $134,983.80, for the Committee’s travel to Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, during summer 2024, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the distribution of federal government funding among Canada’s post-secondary institutions, the returns to the following questions made into orders for return: Q-2369 and Q-2370; presented in the House on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, be included as evidence.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(i) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, September 18, 2023, the committee resumed its study of integration of indigenous traditional knowledge and science in government policy development.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: “Incorporating Indigenous Knowledge and Science in Canadian Research and Policy Development”.

It was agreed, — That the Chair, clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to this report.

It was agreed, — That dissenting or supplementary opinions be in Calibri 12-point font, left aligned, single spaced, and be submitted electronically to the clerk of the committee not later than 5:00 p.m. (EDT) on Thursday, June 13, 2024.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.
