Mario Mainville, Scott Jones and Kathy Fox made statements and answered questions.
René Villemure moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(h), the committee undertake a study of misinformation and disinformation and their impact on the work of parliamentarians, that the committee devote the next three available meetings to this study; that the committee invite experts in the field of misinformation and disinformation; and that the committee report its observations and recommendations to the House.
Debate arose thereon.
On motion of Iqra Khalid, it was agreed, — That the motion be amended by adding “at least” before “the next three available meetings”.
After debate, the question was put on the motion, as amended, and it was agreed to.
The motion, as amended, read as follows:
That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(h), the committee undertake a study of misinformation and disinformation and their impact on the work of parliamentarians, that the committee devote at least the next three available meetings to this study; that the committee invite experts in the field of misinformation and disinformation; and that the committee report its observations and recommendations to the House.
At 1:00 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
