Michael Barrett moved, — That the committee call the Lobbying Commissioner and the former Interim Ethics Commissioner to appear, regarding the appointment of former Liberal Minister of Industry, Navdeep Bains as chief corporate affairs officer at Rogers Communications.
Debate arose thereon.
By unanimous consent, the motion was allowed to stand.
Dean Beeby and Duff Conacher made statements and answered questions.
At 4:42 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 4:47 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The committee resumed consideration of the motion of Michael Barrett, — That the committee call the Lobbying Commissioner and the former Interim Ethics Commissioner to appear, regarding the appointment of former Liberal Minister of Industry, Navdeep Bains as chief corporate affairs officer at Rogers Communications.
The debate continued.
Matthew Green moved, — That the motion be amended by deleting the words "and the former Interim Ethics Commissioner” and by adding, after the words "Rogers Communications", the words "; and that in in the absence of a duly appointed Ethics Commissioner, the Chair send a letter to the Office of the Ethics Commissioner asking if any advice has been given regarding Rogers and demanding the details of the Office of the Ethics Commissioner’s involvement with respect to the appointment process.".
After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Matthew Green and it was agreed to.
