Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, January 28, 2022, the committee commenced its study of service standards for employment insurance claims.

Lori MacDonald made a statement and, with Cliff C. Groen, Peter Littlefield and Mary Crescenzi, answered questions.

At 12:20 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:25 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

Motion

Stephanie Kusie moved, — That the second part of today's meeting be held in public.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

Motion

Louise Chabot moved, — That the committee invite the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion, the Minister of Labour and the Minister of Seniors to appear for one hour each before the committee to explain their mandate letters.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

Stephanie Kusie moved, — That the motion be amended by deleting the word “and” after the words “Minister of Labour”, and by adding the words “and Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion” after the words “the Minister of Seniors”, and by adding the words “prior to Friday, February 18, 2022,” after the words “before the committee””.

Debate arose thereon.

Subamendment

Bonita Zarrillo moved, — That the amendment be amended by adding after the words “mandate letters” the following: “; and that the prioritization of studies happen on Thursday, February 3, 2022”.
