Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the clerk of the committee presided over the election of a vice-chair.

It was agreed, — That Tracy Gray be elected First Vice-Chair of the committee.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, February 3, 2022, the committee resumed its study of labour shortages, working conditions and the care economy.

The committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the consideration of Bill C-22, Canada Disability Benefit Act, and the planning of inclusive and accessible meetings, the clerk of the committee, in consultation with the Chair, be authorized to provide for various accommodations and services including sign language interpretation, captioning, accessible document formats and meeting rooms that meet mobility considerations.

It was agreed, — That, if requested, attendant care be reimbursed to witnesses not exceeding two representatives per organization; and that, in exceptional circumstances, payment for more representatives be made at the discretion of the Chair.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the consideration of Bill C-22, Canada Disability Benefit Act, the deadline for the submission of written briefs of no more than five pages or 2,500 words to the committee be Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. (EST).

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding the routine motion governing time for opening remarks and questioning of witnesses, adopted by the committee on Monday, December 13, 2021, the officials from the Department of Employment and Social Development be allotted up to 20 minutes for their opening statement at the meeting of Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

At 4:49 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
