Minutes of Proceedings
It was agreed, — That the Third Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, as amended, which read as follows, be concurred in:
Your subcommittee met on Thursday, September 22, 2022, to consider the business of the committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:
1. That, in relation to the study of the victims of crime, the committee hold three additional meetings, starting on Thursday, September 29, 2022, and invite six witnesses to appear at each of these meetings.
2. That, pursuant to the Order of Reference of June 21, 2022, the committee undertake a study on the subject matter of Bill C-28; that three meetings be held to hear from witnesses and one for the draft report study; that the Minister of Justice and Attorney General be invited to appear; and that the committee report back to the House by December 16, 2022.
3. That the committee undertake a comprehensive study on Extradition Law reform; that witnesses from the Department of Justice and those provided by the members of the committee be invited to provide testimony regarding the current system of extradition under the 1999 Extradition Act and provide comprehensive recommendations to the committee on how to overhaul the current system so that the civil liberties of all Canadians and Permanent Residents of Canada are respected in any extradition proceeding; that the committee hold at least three meetings on this topic; that a report be tabled in the House of Commons; and that, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the government table a comprehensive response to the report.
4. That the committee hold meetings for its study of Bill C-9, An Act to amend the Judges Act, and invite the Minister of Justice and Attorney General, if the bill is referred to the committee.
5. That the Minister of Justice and Attorney General be invited to appear later this Fall for the study of Supplementary Estimates (B) 2022–23, if necessary.
It was agreed, — That the clerk of the committee be authorized to grant access to the committee's digital binder to the offices of the whips of each recognized party.
