Pursuant to the order of reference of Wednesday, June 21, 2023, the committee resumed consideration of Bill C-40, An Act to amend the Criminal Code, to make consequential amendments to other Acts and to repeal a regulation (miscarriage of justice reviews).

Neil Wiberg, Nyki Kish and Tony Paisana made statements and answered questions.

At 4:34 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:36 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Lindsey Guice Smith and Kathryn M. Campbell made statements and answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

On motion of Rob Moore, it was agreed, — That, pursuant to the Order of Reference from the House dated Thursday, November 9, 2023, the committee invite the Minister of Justice to appear for no fewer than 2 hours regarding the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2023-24, and that this meeting take place as soon as possible, and no later than December 7, 2023.

At 5:31 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
