Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, January 30, 2023, the committee resumed its study of Canada’s bail system.

The Minister made a statement and answered questions.

At 4:39 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:43 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Sydney Lecky, Robert A. Davis and Darren Montour made statements and answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That, in relation to the study to review available international mechanisms to hold state parties and others accountable for International Atrocity Crimes (war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide), the proposed budget in the amount of $149,508.05, for the committee’s travel to Geneva, Switzerland, Amsterdam, Netherlands, The Hague, Netherlands in Spring - Summer 2023, be adopted.

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $22,750, for the study of Canada's bail system, be adopted.

At 5:32 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
