Minutes of Proceedings
It was agreed, — That the Second Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure which read as follows, be concurred in:
Your subcommittee met on Friday, March 25, 2022, to consider the business of the committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:
1. That the committee hold six meetings for its study on the government’s obligations to victims of crime and that the Chair be able to organize the panels based on witness lists submitted by parties and by consulting with the committee staff.
2. That the evidence and documents gathered by the committee during the 2nd Session of the 43rd Parliament on the study of the Canadian Victims Bill of Rights, namely, at the meetings of June 3, 2021, and June 8, 2021, be considered by the committee for the study on the government’s obligations to victims of crime.
3. That the committee add two meetings on April 1 and 5, 2022, for its study on the review of the Protection of Communities and Exploited Persons Act and that the April 8, 2022, meeting be devoted to providing instructions to the analysts for preparing a report.
4. That the Minister of Justice and Attorney General be invited to appear by May 31, 2022, on the Main Estimates 2022–23.
At 3:45 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 3:59 p.m., the sitting resumed in public.
Chad Westmacott and Stéphanie Bouchard made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
By unanimous consent, on motion of Randall Garrison, it was agreed, — That the committee adopt the ninth report entitled "The Shadow Pandemic: Stopping Coercive and Controlling Behaviour in Intimate Relationships" tabled during the 2nd Session of the 43rd Parliament; that the report be presented in the House; and that, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request the government table a comprehensive response to the report.
It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.
ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.
