Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g), the committee resumed consideration of Report 6, Sustainable Development Technology Canada, of the 2024 Reports 5 to 7 of the Auditor General of Canada referred to the committee on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

At 11:03 a.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 11:37 a.m., the meeting resumed.

It was agreed, — That Andrée-Lise Méthot be permitted to be assisted by counsel during her appearance.

Andrée-Lise Méthot made a statement and answered questions.

At 1:08 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 1:14 p.m., the meeting resumed.

At 1:14 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 1:16 p.m., the meeting resumed.

Questioning of the witness resumed.

Motion

Jean Yip moved, — That the committee call for the member for St. Albert—Edmonton apologize personally for his blatant defamatory accusations against Ms. Méthot.

RULING BY THE CHAIR

The Chair ruled the motion inadmissible as the motion did not relate directly to the business at hand.

Whereupon, Francis Drouin appealed the decision of the Chair.

The question: "Shall the decision of the chair be sustained?" was put and was negatived on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Kelly McCauley, Rick Perkins, Nathalie Sinclair-Desgagné, Rachel Blaney — 4;

NAYS: Valerie Bradford, Francis Drouin, Nathaniel Erskine-Smith, Iqra Khalid, Jean Yip— 5.

Accordingly, the Chair’s decision was overturned.

At 1:25 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 1:27 p.m., the meeting resumed.

Debate arose thereon.

Motion

Rick Perkins moved, — That the debate be now adjourned.

The question was put on the motion and the result of the vote was announced:

YEAS: Rachel Blaney, Michael Cooper, Kelly McCauley, Rick Perkins, Nathalie Sinclair-Desgagné — 5;

NAYS: Valerie Bradford, Francis Drouin, Nathaniel Erskine-Smith, Iqra Khalid, Jean Yip — 5.

Whereupon, the Chair voted in the affirmative.

Accordingly, the motion was agreed to.

Questioning of the witness resumed.

At 2:09 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
