Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g), the committee commenced consideration of Report 2, Housing in First Nations Communities, of the 2024 Reports 2 to 4 of the Auditor General of Canada referred to the committee on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

John Nater moved, — Given the Auditor General’s Report 6, 2024, on Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) which revealed “significant lapses in governance and stewardship of public funds” and rampant conflicts of interest among SDTC board members, pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g), the committee commence a study on this audit and invite the following witnesses to testify before the House adjourns for the summer:

  • Francois-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Industry
  • Simon Kennedy, Deputy Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada
  • Francis Bilodeau, Assistant Deputy Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada
  • Paul Boothe, Acting Chair of Sustainable Development Technology Canada
  • Ziyad Rahme, Acting President of Sustainable Development Technology Canada
  • The anonymous whistleblower who appeared at the Industry Committee on this matter on Monday, December 11, 2023
  • Privy Council Secretariat responsible for appointments
  • Mitch Davies, President of the National Research Council
  • Konrad von Finckenstein, Ethics Commissioner

And the committee book extra resources as required to accommodate these witness appearances.

Matthew Green moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “And the committee book extra resources as required to accommodate these witness appearances.” with the following: “And the committee accommodate these witnesses during regular committee meetings.”.
