Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)c) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, the committee resumed its study of indigenous procurement.

Michael Mills made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

Motion

Stephanie Kusie moved, — That the committee call Mario Bot, the Director of Management at the Consulate General of Canada in New York, as well as the three other individuals in the room when Mr. Clark made “comments in passing” about the residence as he stated in testimony Thursday, November 21, 2024, and that one additional meeting be held on this study to accommodate these witnesses.

Debate arose thereon.

The question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Kelly Block, Garnett Genuis, Stephanie Kusie — 3;

NAYS: Parm Bains, Rachel Blaney, Anna Gainey, Majid Jowhari, Irek Kusmierczyk, Charles Sousa, Julie Vignola — 7.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

At 12:04 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 12:12 p.m., the meeting resumed in camera.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, the committee resumed its study of postal service in Canada’s rural and remote communities.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Canada's Postal Service: A Lifeline for Rural and Remote Communities".

It was agreed, — That the Chair, clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report.

It was agreed, — That dissenting or supplementary opinions be in Calibri 12-point font, left aligned, single-spaced, and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the clerk of the committee, not later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

At 12:48 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
