Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c)(viii), and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, March 20, 2023, the committee resumed its study of subject matter of Supplementary Estimates (C), 2022-23.

The Minister made a statement and, with Arianne Reza, Simon Page, Wojo Zielonka, and Sony Perron, answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Motion

Kelly Block moved, — That the analysts and the clerk be directed to prepare a brief report to the House outlining the material facts regarding the status of the documents ordered by the committee, in particular the degree of redactions, in relation to its study of federal government consulting contracts awarded to McKinsey & Company, and that the draft report be considered by the committee in public.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

Anthony Housefather moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the word “House” with the word “committee”, and by deleting the following: “, and that the draft report be considered by the committee in public”.

Subamendment

Michael Barrett moved, — That the amendment be amended by replacing the words “brief report to the committee” with the words “brief report to the House”.

RULING BY THE CHAIR

The Chair ruled the proposed subamendment inadmissible.

The debate on the amendment continued.

The question was put on the amendment of Anthony Housefather and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

The motion, as amended, read as follows:
