Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2023-24: Vote 1 under Canada Post Corporation, Vote 1 under Canada School of Public Service, Vote 1 under Canadian Intergovernmental Conference Secretariat, Vote 1 under Canadian Transportation Accident Investigation and Safety Board, Votes 1 and 5 under Department of Public Works and Government Services, Votes 1 and 5 under National Capital Commission, Vote 1 under Office of the Governor General's Secretary, Vote 1 under Office of the Parliamentary Budget Officer, Vote 1 under Office of Public Sector Integrity Commissioner, Vote 1 under Privy Council Office, Vote 1 under Public Service Commission, Vote 1 under Senate, Votes 1 and 5 under Shared Services Canada and Votes 1, 5, 10, 20, 25, 30 and 35 under Treasury Board Secretariat, referred to the committee on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.

Yves Giroux made a statement and, with Kaitlyn Vanderwees, answered questions.

It was agreed, — That the Parliamentary Budget Officer provide the committee with an update on the previously conducted analysis of the gun buy‑back program.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

It was agreed, — That the Parliamentary Budget Officer provide the committee with the cost for the changes following from the government’s settlements with public sector unions, and the all‑in cost for the average full-time equivalent for the public service.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $1,500, for the study of the subject matter of the Main Estimates 2023‑24, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the Auditor General and her staff have access to the committee’s documents related to the study of federal government consulting contracts awarded to McKinsey & Company.

At 5:18 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
